Equine Veterinary Services
Shepparton Equine provides practical, personalised veterinary care at your property and at our Shepparton East clinic. Alongside routine equine care, we offer expertise in prepurchase examinations, surgery, lameness and poor performance, and specialist internal medicine and referral cases.
Equine Surgery
Dr Rob Kent provides experienced surgical care at our Shepparton East clinic.
Surgical services include orthopaedic procedures such as arthroscopy, sequestrum removal, fracture repair, treatment of septic joints & tendon sheaths, transphyseal bridging and periosteal strips, as well as cryptorchid surgery, airway procedures, dental and sinus surgery, soft tissue/mass removals and reproductive procedures.
Each horse receives an individual treatment and recovery plan, with clear communication before surgery and throughout the postoperative period.
Internal Medicine
Dr Stacey Sullivan accepts first-opinion and referral cases requiring advanced investigation or management.
Services include cardiac assessment with echocardiography and resting or exercising ECG, respiratory investigation, ophthalmology, neonatal and intensive care, and investigation of complex problems including weight loss, recurrent colic and poor performance.
We work collaboratively with owners and referring veterinarians and provide practical recommendations tailored to the horse, owner and circumstances. Consultations can be performed at the clinic or at your home.
Prepurchase Examinations
A prepurchase examination is not simply a pass-or-fail assessment. Its purpose is to identify relevant findings and help you understand what they may mean for the horse’s intended use.
We offer examinations for pleasure, performance, racing and breeding horses, ranging from standard clinical assessments to more detailed investigations incorporating diagnostic imaging, endoscopy and other testing where appropriate.
Our findings are explained clearly so you can make an informed decision with a realistic understanding of the individual horse.
Lameness and Poor Performance
We offer thorough investigation of lameness and poor performance, whether the problem is obvious or your horse simply isn't feeling or performing as expected.
Assessments can be undertaken on farm or at our Shepparton East clinic and may include examination at rest and in motion, diagnostic analgesia, digital radiography and ultrasound. Each investigation is tailored to the individual horse, its intended use and your goals, with practical treatment and management recommendations provided.
Ambulatory Service
We service Shepparton & the Goulburn Valley Region, extending north to the border and south to Nagambie & Euroa
Our ambulatory service provides experienced routine and emergency veterinary care delivered to your property throughout the Shepparton and Goulburn Valley region.
We offer preventative healthcare, routine and emergency care, supported by portable diagnostic radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy and dental equipment. Horses requiring further investigation, treatment or monitoring can be admitted to our Shepparton East clinic
Other Services
Farrier Service
Ben Croft is a highly experienced master farrier who visits Shepparton Equine once monthly to service general farrier clients and those needing expertise in remedial farriery. Appointments are essential.
Reproduction & Stud Services
We offer routine stud reproduction services including pregnancy diagnosis, twin ablation, new foal assessments & IgG assessments.
